The Hair Clinic was opened some 26 years ago here at John Bell and Croyden. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive choice of solutions for male and female hair loss and scalp disorders. Our treatments range from medically prescribed options, to trichologically prescribed treatments, all the way through to hair transplantation.
Before any treatment plan can be recommended, a diagnosis has to be made on your hair and/or scalp condition. Our resident Trichologist is Vanessa Bailey who is a member of The Institute of Trichologists who are the esteemed governing and training body of Trichologists within the UK and Europe. Vanessa is also a Fellow of The Royal Society of Public Health and is the author of The Good Hair Guide: All Your Questions Answered.
During a trichological consultation your hair and scalp are closely examined and questions are also asked about:
• Your current and previous states of health
• Your current and past hair care routines
• Your diet patterns and any recent dietary changes
• Your current and past stress levels
• Your family history of hair loss and scalp problems
Any recent blood test results should also be bought along to the consultation, especially if hair loss is your main worry. However, if after examination you have a type of hair loss that needs further blood examination to find the exact cause, the Trichologist will be able to pin point what you need to have tested and will make the necessary recommendations for you.
After consultation and examination a diagnosis is made, unless further blood tests are required, then the diagnosis would be made once these are complete. However, most of the time you will know what type of hair loss or hair thinning you are suffering from after consultation and if you suffer a scalp condition this will be diagnosed.
After diagnosis, and where appropriate, a treatment plan will be discussed and this could include Trichologically formulated shampoos, scalp treatment creams and lotions. Hair loss treatments could be the latest medically prescribed options or trichological in nature-where they are predominately plant based. You can be assessed for your suitability to hair transplant surgery-The Hair Clinic works closely with a highly experienced team of hair transplant surgeons and we can make the necessary referrals if appropriate.
All consultations are FREE of charge and also all follow-up assessments to check on your progress under our recommended treatments are also FREE of charge.
